If it seems unseasonably early to be thinking about your holiday party, it’s never too early to start planning. Event planners are well into planning mode, and they’re just putting those final touches on, so this is the prime time to make plans.
Venues book quickly, and musical and performance acts will be snatched up on the most popular weekend dates before you can say “Bah Humbug!” Wait a few more weeks and the crème of the crop will be taken, and you’ll be left with your second or third choice.
So let’s cue the mulled wine and holiday music, and get in the holiday spirit by chatting about some of the entertainment you might consider for your holiday party.
Holiday Carolers
To add a tone of traditional—if not Dickensian flavor—to a holiday celebration, you can't go wrong with carolers, and I have two groups to recommend. The American Caroling Company is a foursome that will delight your audience with beautiful harmonies and exciting arrangements. The Ornaments, on the other hand, are a trio of lovely ladies that blend choreography and professional polish to create adorable renditions of holiday favorites.
Dance to the Music
If you want to pick up the pace and have some serious fun, a dance band is the direction to go. The Smooth Groove Band spans a repertoire from funky to R&B, to classic pop and rock hits, to bluesy and jazzy. For a bolder and brassier sound, the band expands to add a 3- or 4-piece horn section.
Another popular direction to take is hiring a Professional DJ. Today’s modern disc jockey uses a PC-styled coordinated sound and light system, and at Smooth Groove, our DJs have an astounding 7,200 musical selections right at their fingertips! Which means we can accommodate practically any request imaginable. From big band to hip hop, we can cater to your taste.
Create a Little Ambience
For those events where you needs a certain ambience, a jazz ensemble is the ideal selection. The Emmanuel del Casal Jazz Ensemble, which you can catch every Saturday at The Georgian Room, makes an excellent accompaniment to your holiday cocktail mixers and dinners. But flexibility is what we’re all about, and we can assemble an ensemble from duo to big band to match your musical tastes, party size and venue.
Classic Elegance
We also book elegant musical acts of all kinds, from guitarists to string ensembles to pianists to harpists. Pianist Ludmilla, creates her own signature style, blending East and West, new and old, classical and jazz. Listening to her play will take you down a path that shares musical styles and multi-cultural experiences.
Or a classical guitarist make a wonderful choice for ambient music. Guitarist Dan Sales, is featured every week as part of the Emmanuel del Casal duo. But Dan has an accomplished solo career as well, and his acoustic guitar playing ranges from classical to flamenco to jazz.
For something a little out of the ordinary, especially for the corporate holiday party that needs a little excitement, I’d like to suggest a performing artist. A mentalist, caricaturist, juggler or magician brings lots of excitement to an event, and makes for incredible water cooler conversation.
Whatever you choose for your holiday entertainment, make it memorable!
